Mr. C.R. Sipes opened the first building on Summit Street. It was a 10-by-20 foot building. He sold hardware, stoves and ag tools.After it opened, he traded a pony for lumber to make a storage room and increased the size to 16 by 40 feet.He made his own tinware and became quite prosperous.
