hard winter Empty hard winter

The winters were hard for people and yet they managed with hard work to keep family warm and farm animals feed with out the modern things we have today. When Arkansas city and this county started . I sit in my home with electricty not candles or lamps. Gas heat ,not wood or cow chips for heat in a fireplace, although I like fireplaces. I don't have to go out and get the horses tied to a wagon with no covering over the driver. The vehicles keep us warm and dry while we have music on the radio and so in the early days in the winter was not easy for people in the beginning of Arkansas city or any place that folks set up their claim to a place to call home.
