1601, Juan de Onate,another Spanish conquistador,went in search of Quivira. With 80 solders,2 priests, and several native American servants.He ended up at a place he called the "Great Settlement",at the mouth of the Walnut River,near present day Arkansas City.
Information taken from book written by Heather Ferguson,Images of America,Arkansas City.
Quivira was the fabled city of gold. Very Happy
